IDEA/CONCEPT

A sculptural series reflecting cultural voices through tactile forms, each piece embodying a narrative of migration.

EXECUTION & PROCESS

Hand-built clay forms were shaped into abstract vessels, glazed with layered textures, and kiln-fired to preserve permanence.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Working with clay reminded me of the grounding power of touch, and how materiality carries memory.

Voices in Clay is a series of ceramic sculptures that embody the stories of migration and cultural transition. Each vessel-like form was hand-built to represent resilience, fragility, and continuity. The glazing process added layers of meaning, with textures symbolizing the scars and beauty of journeys. The execution required patience and respect for the unpredictable nature of clay. Personally, this project was a meditation on belonging — how art can hold voices that might otherwise remain unheard.
